Angie England has long been obsessed with creating glitzy
showpieces out
of throw-away items—particularly those with stories to tell.
She soon
discovered that she wasn’t alone in her love for rhinestones and
vintage
pieces. In 2008, she created What Would Dolly Do? as an outlet for
this
obsession with sparkle. Named for her mother’s childhood friend, What
Would Dolly Do? reflects the free-spirited attitude and ceaseless quest
for glitz that Dolly represents.
Rhinestones, crystals, vibrant
paint—Dollying-up our items is, simply
put, pure fun. The only thing that
delights us more is finding our
unique products.
A countless number
of people graciously allow us to rummage through
their barns and garages,
searching for the ideal vintage pieces. Getting
to know them has been a pure
joy.
Others lend their particularly skills to this inspired endeavor. Mr.
Jim, for instance, spends much of his retirement working in his
woodshop. We have him to thank for many of the wood creations that we
Dolly-up. Hand-sewn pillows are supplied by my 91-year-old grandmother
Nonnie; family friend Steven welds much of our metalwork; while another
friend, Aaron, contributes his junk-collecting expertise.
We have
made many dear friends in this exciting journey. Our dream is
that this
spirit of fun and adventure is clearly reflected in our
products—and that
it’s contagious!
